The feature highlights her proposed MA thesis project as well as her ongoing research conducted with Dr. Amanda Cheong and Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice.

Undergraduate student Sandy Yen has been awarded the BC Home Economics Scholarships Foundations Evelyn Kerr Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is granted to students pursuing family centered studies and planning to pursue family life education or home economics/family studies teaching.
PhD Candidate Ryan Stillwagon selected for UBC’s 2021/2022 Public Scholars Initiative
Each year the rates of food insecurity in Canada surpass the highest rates ever recorded before with one in six households with children being food insecure. Like most others, this insecurity impacts more those already marginalized, such as people identifying as queer. Ryan plans on bringing together and working with community members to illustrate communal solutions and improvements to food security challenges and contribute to better policymaking and sustainable urban development.

A new interdisciplinary research network is announcing eight research projects investigating COVID-19 variants of concern (VOCs) and variants of interest (VOIs) in Canada. University of British Columbia Sociology Professor Kimberly Huyser is overseeing Pillar 7, which focuses on Indigenous Engagement, Development, and Research (CIEDAR).
