Students in the Master’s program in Sociology at UBC graduate exceptionally prepared for both employment and further studies.
A broad-based curriculum emphasizing advanced quantitative and qualitative methods affords students the skills they will apply in their original research and beyond.
We welcome around 4 students each year into the two-year MA program.
MA students have the opportunity to specialize in any one or more of the Department’s four major research streams:
- Environment, Community and Social Movements;
- Family and Life Course;
- Gender and Sexuality;
- Health and Healthcare;
- Knowledge, Culture and Power;
- Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; and
- Work, Economy and Globalization.
