About

As a first year master’s student in the department, I work under the supervision of Dr. Renisa Mawani. I am a Han Chinese settler living on unceded territories of the šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō) Nations, in what is colonially known as “Vancouver.” My research interests lie within the tensions between hyphenated “Chinese-Canadian” identities/communities & socio-political necessitations of anti-oppressive theory and praxis, living as an unwilling yet complicit settler in the state known as “Canada.” For my thesis project I hope to conduct research on Vancouver’s Chinese-Canadian communities, through methods of digital analysis, in order to construct a body of knowledge on contemporary political and class contours.
