Three UBC Sociology professors elected to American Sociological Association positions

Congratulations to UBC Sociology Professors Lindsey Richardson, Amin Ghaziani, and Elizabeth Hirsh who were all elected to leadership positions in the American Sociological Association.

Prof. Richardson was elected as chair-elect of the section on Drugs and Society. This section encourages research, teaching, and the examination of professional concerns in the study of the sociology of substance use and misuse, its context, and associated problems.

Prof. Ghaziani was elected to the council of the Sociology of Culture section. The purpose of this section is to encourage the development of this perspective through the organized interchange of ideas and research. The Section on Culture considers material products, ideas, and symbolic means and their relation to social behavior.

Prof. Hirsh was elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the section on Organizations, Occupations, and Work. This section fosters research on concepts and theories from sociology and related social sciences as they apply to problems of organizations, occupational roles, and the changing nature of work.

Congratulations to our professors for their elected leadership roles in the ASA.
