The award, provided by Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI), will support Professor Richardson’s research project that is looking at whether changing how income assistance is disbursed can reduce drug-related harms that tend to escalate around government cheque issue days, particularly in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The study partners with Pigeon Park Savings, a local bank, to look at the potential positive impacts of changing: 1) timing of payments; and 2) timing and frequency of payments.
