The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce that Dr. Guy Stecklov has been appointed as Head of the Department, beginning July 1, 2017.
Dr. Stecklov received an MA degree in Economics and a PhD in Demography from UC Berkeley, and is currently appointed as a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Hebrew University. Dr. Stecklov is a specialist in research methods and demography, who has published widely in leading journals of Sociology and Demography, as well as in high impact interdisciplinary journals. He served as an advisor to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics and Population Forecasting, and currently serves as Head of the Bureau’s scientific steering committee for population projections. Dr.Stecklov’s prior administrative experience, which includes a term as Chair of his Department at Hebrew University (2010-2014), will serve him well in his new role at UBC.
