Congratulations to recent graduate Dr. Nicole Malette, who has been granted a 2021 Outstanding Graduating Sociology Student award by the Canadian Sociological Association!
The Canadian Sociological Association’s Outstanding Graduating Sociology Student awards recognize top graduating Honours, MA, and PhD students from university and college Sociology departments all across Canada. This year, departments selected one top student in each academic level who graduated, or will be graduating, between June 15, 2020 and June 15, 2021.
Dr. Malette’s graduate research investigated how post-secondary environments impact undergraduate student mental health stigma, service use and the likelihood for experiencing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Findings from her work highlighted the importance of examining social influences on student wellbeing.
Congratulations to Dr. Malette on her well-deserved award! We look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments as a postdoctoral researcher at McMaster University.
