Congratulations to undergraduate student Jacqueline Shen who was awarded the Carol Matusicky Prize in Family Studies.
The prize is presented in honour of Dr. Carol Matusicky’s tenure as Executive Director of the B.C. Council for Families. It is awarded to an undergraduate student in Family Studies on the recommendation of the Faculty of Arts.
UBC graduate Jacqueline Shen
Jacqueline Shen grew up in Shanghai, China as an international student surrounded by multiculturalism and people of diverse family and personal backgrounds. Now, she is a recent graduate of the University of British Columbia, where she pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies. She is currently working as a Volunteer Research Assistant at the Social Cognition and Emotion Lab. She is also an Assistant at Well Health where she interacts with patients to ensure that they receive the best care and treatment at the clinic.
Later this year, Shen plans to apply for a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy to pursue her determined interest in exploring the relationship dynamics between family members and couples. Her goal is to become a licensed counselor in the field and help others navigate through life’s ups and downs.
