Three aspects attracted me to the PhD program in the Department of Sociology at UBC—the quality of the faculty members, the caliber of current graduate students enrolled in both the MA and PhD programs, and the financial support offered to incoming graduate students. These aspects combined generated a stimulating and productive academic environment with which to carry out study and research.
