Congratulations to Professor Becki Ross and Jamie Lee Hamilton, who are the co-winners of the CSA’s Angus Reid Practitioners/Applied Sociology Award for 2019. Both Ross and Hamilton are the first co-winners of the award. They join fellow Professor Sean Lauer, who won the award back in 2017.
They are delighted, and most appreciative of the nomination prepared by colleagues Catherine Corrigall-Brown and Rima Wilkes.
“This award recognizes sociologists who undertake community action projects that bring social science knowledge, methods, and expertise to bear in addressing community-identified issues and concerns.
It celebrates a Sociologist’s contribution to sociological practice that has serves as a model for working with a community, organization or public service. It honours work that has a significant sociological perspective and, by so doing, elevates the profession for Sociology as a whole. The recipient(s) of this award spend considerable time involving research, administrative or operational responsibilities as a member of an organization, agency or association or as a solo practitioner.” – The Canadian Sociological Association
