Winter Term One Courses at UBC Sociology

To ensure the safety of our staff and students during COVID-19, UBC will be offering most Winter Session Term 1 courses online.

As part of our online teaching, most undergraduate courses for Sociology and Family Studies will have a combination of synchronous and asynchronous content. Synchronous courses will take place in real-time with specific lecture or class-related activity times online, while asynchronous courses will feature materials that can be accessed at any time.

The Department will update these details as instructors provide us with information. Please check individual course notes in the online schedule for additional details.

UBC Sociology is offering courses at various times during the day to accommodate different types of schedules and time zones.

Registration tip for students

We encourage students to build a schedule of courses as you normally would. Avoid overlaps in course times since many courses will include some synchronous teaching. We look forward to seeing you in our online classes in the fall term.
